All purpose tool for conical grinding of wooden arrows (tapering). Tapered arrows stand out due to a particularly straight arrow flight and a more flat trajectory. By grinding at the pointand nock end one can reduce mass, therefore the arrow will stabilize itself way faster after the shot than a parallel arrow would. Furthermore tapering reduces the arrow’s weight and thus one can assemble a lighter arrow head. The set contains a universalshaft adapter for assimilating the arrow’s shaftto the drill machine and a double slider chest for rough and fine grinding.
Sequence of work Set the shaft adapterinto the drill . Do not use a cordless screwdriver- rotates too slow! Now tuck the shaft with a slight turn tightly into the shaft adapter. Insert the shaft into the guide groove of the taper tool and slightly press on with one hand. Direct the shaft at high rotational speed between the grinding jaws(rough grinding)of the taper tool and move it to thestop by steadily pushing it back and forth ( ca.5-10 cm.) without pressure- that’s it. (If necessary use a arrow puller) Remove theshaft with a slight turn from the shaft adapter. For a barrel taper cut the shaft in the correct length, turn the shaftaround and seize it into the shaft adapteragain. Grind the shaft as described above. Now the shaft is exactly grinded to the diameter 5/16 and can be equipped with the adequate point and nock. With the 5/16 drill hole on the right grinding jawthe diameter can be checked.
Tip: The service life of the sandpaper is being increased by steadily pushing back and forth the shaft because the sanding dust thereby does not accumulate to the sandpaper. The grinding jaws can be turned several times tillall parts of the wearing surface are completely used up.
